Is it a lamb? Is it a poodle? Can you spot the difference?Thousands of people have been 'fleeced' into buying neatly coiffured lambs they thought were poodles.

a couple of months later, she made it a point to show me (once again) just how much she wanted one. i had been working on laundry and when i went back to my room to grab my bedding, she had made herself comfortable on one of my pillows.
so, finally, i caved and gave her one. usually i'll leave it at the foot of my bed but last night i brought her pillow out onto the couch. as my brother and i were watching tv, poa-poa crawled into the pillowcase and slept. she does the funniest things sometimes...
here are some photos from that day. i think poa-poa knew i was up to no good, but she couldn't stop me. hmm, maybe if she was bigger, she would have made a difference.

don't give me that look.

dogs [both girls]...they're about as candid as it gets around this house.
poa poa is staying with my parents until next week. i miss her but at the same time, it's been nice not having to worry about accidentally stepping on her. instead of being a lap dog, she's more like a foot dog...always resting her snout on, or falling asleep near my feet while i'm working.
i don't think poa poa's had flashbacks of the time when she was accidentally stepped on but it's always fresh in my mind. i'll never forget, my parent's place thanksgiving night, when she slept on the floor near the sofa my brother was lounging on. as he swung his legs over to get up, there was this horrible sound coming from the living room. at the time, i was on the phone talking to my friend and we both said, "what the hell was that?!" it was poa poa howling at the top of her little lungs in PAIN. my poor brother. he felt so terrible and i felt bad for the both of them.
of course we rushed to the animal hospital (thank god they were open) and my brother explained to the vet what had happened. i remember him looking at my brother, mulling over what he had just been told. then the vet said, "it could have been a lot worse." my brother is about 6 feet tall, 265lbs. just think, it was only his big toe that broke her leg (tibia). had it been his entire foot...well, i can't imagine she would have survived...he would have crushed her to death for sure.
so yeah, i miss the little pooch. i haven't heard her whining to play fetch--she has this way of coming up to you, staring you down and then yapping until you play with her. she won't leave you alone, ms. little attention hog. now it's just too quiet without her here. at least i have a couple of videos to watch until she comes home next week.
I woke up Saturday morning with a *pet project* in mind. I thought, today I'm gonna give the dog a haircut. Poor dog. Okay, it's not that bad--she's still cute. I think she sort of looks like the dog in As Good as it Gets. Anyway, she was due for a grooming. I've done it before...and it wasn't such a bad experience. So, I started off with her ears. What you can't see in the "celebration" photos are the patches of matted and tangled hair on her ears. A few snips here and there with the scissors, then the electric shaver to smooth things out and voila!
I hadn't planned on cutting her ears so short. I felt terrible and couldn't bring myself to trim the rest of her body. After I put her on the floor, she gave me a look like she was relieved, like a massive weight had been lifted off her little shoulders. I'm sure she was mostly relieved that I was done and that she didn't hear anymore buzzing and snipping. Poor thing. She scampered off and went back to playing with her favorite toy (bobo from Petsmart). Which reminds me--she needs a new one. I don't think it will survive a washing and I've already sewed parts of the body back on since she refuses to play with any other toy!
So, that was my Saturday morning. After giving Poa-poa her trim,
I started on laundry and tried to watch another episode of Taken.
I love watching movies with my brother since he's a sci-fi fan but he
didn't seem all that interested in the show a few days ago so I decided
to watch without him. It started to get a little more interesting
by the 3rd episode.
For dinner, I made deng jang chigae (Korean miso soup) and rice. I love my mom's recipe but I never seem to have the right ingredients. So, I made mine with tofu, spinach, onions and mushrooms. One of these days I need to hit the farmer's market on Buford Highway for supplies.
After dinner, caught the 9:50pm showing of The Illusionist. Crystal, I agree this was a great movie and it exceeded my expectations!
That was my Saturday and now it's Sunday morning. I have a lot of
magazines I need to catch up on, but today I'll focus on September
issues of Discover and Scientific American.
Later, maybe I'll run a few errands and finally use my Christmas gift
card for The Container Store. I love that store!
