Saturday, started the day with a morning movie. As in a 10:30AM showing of Iron Man. It was fun, and was better than I expected! I did have one minor gripe: Terrance Howard as Rhodie. I just wasn't feeling him. <spoiler> I guess I was thinking of when he assumed the role of Iron Man in the comics, and Howard just doesn't seem like the superhero type. </spoiler> Funny, I said the same thing about Downey. I'm not saying the next installment would focus on Rhodie anyway...since I missed the scene after the credits. ARGH!!!! Still, the movie was a blast, especially if you're into gadget porn.
Let's see... Oh, after the movie, stopped by one of the local comic shops for Free Comic Book Day. Goodies galore!
Then my nüvi 350 arrived from BuyDig.com. I'm having too much fun with it and it'll come in handy finding a few places when I'm having a fried green tomatoes kick.
Oh, and speaking of food, lunch was a pain in the gut. I forgot there was squid in the dish I ate; my stomach can't tolerate squid.
Sunday, dim sum with a friend. Had the best Chinese broccoli w/oyster sauce. Came home, read more comics from FCBD. Some that I enjoyed:

And that just about sums up my weekend.
if you plan on seeing cloverfield at a theater, sit back. and i mean way in the back. i saw it last weekend with my brother and a friend of ours. half way through the movie, she felt ill and had to leave because of motion sickness.
i did feel like i was on a roller
coaster ride but i didn't mind. i did, however, have a hard time
focusing on a few scenes and somehow i overlooked one small detail at the end. my brother asked if i'd seen it and when he described it, i had to find out for myself. there was another showing that was about to end so i popped in to see what i had missed. good thing i did because it answered the whole "where the hell did it come from" question.
anyway, the movie was entertaining and it did live up
to my expectation--it was intense...very blair witch meets godzilla in the mist.
i forced myself to eat an entire bowl of seafood noodle soup. i usually like my own cooking but this was by far THE most disgusting thing i have ever prepared. yet again, it was the broth that had me looking at the back of head. okay, so my eyes can't roll that far back but it sure as hell felt like it after the first taste. i used a different base this time around so on second thought, maybe it's the odeng (fish cake) that made the broth taste like low tide. i've never had a problem with it before but it is a different brand so who knows...
anyway, i'm not one to waste food so i added sliced onions and bell peppers but it was the sriracha and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchee) that made it somewhat bearable to eat.
*sigh* this no beef/pork/chicken diet isn't working out too well for my soup dishes.
oh, and if anyone plans on seeing the movie one missed call--who the hell is the caller?! i left the theater utterly confused.

never fails--the last scene from the movie philadelphia.
saw the transformers movie today...i LOVED it. yes, there were cheesy moments, but i'm a fan of cheese. actually, one of my favorite is camembert--hard on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. anyway, i was pretty excited about seeing the movie since i grew up watching the cartoon. i expected a lot of action and jaw-dropping visuals, and the movie exceeded my expectation. my only disappointment was when i walked up to my car and nothing happened when i said, "mini cooper, transform." oh well. the movie was amazing and entertaining!
on a different note, there was a mysterious trailer for a movie with no title, just a release date: 1-18-08. can't remember much but it showed a bunch of people partying (i'm assuming in NYC) and there's a blackout and a strange sound. they all come out of the building and we see a big fireball, then the head of the statue of liberty crash landing on the street. it's driving me nuts trying to figure out what it's about but the first thing i said to my brother was "another godzilla movie?" seriously, they're not going to make another one are they?
i'd see it again. probably will since the jerk behind me kept talking and kicking my seat last night. i never felt like slapping someone as bad as i wanted to smack this guy. probably because i asked him to stop twice? anyway, despite the distractions, the movie ROCKED. i thought it was as good as the first "die hard" movie which, in my opinion, was the best.
after having dinner last night with my brother and our friends, we caught the 10pm showing of pirates of the caribbean: at world's end. i had NO IDEA it was going to be such a long movie...as in 2hr 45min long. unfortunately, i went into a food coma 20 minutes into the movie but woke up to catch the last 30 minutes, which included staying after the credits since we were told there was "something at the end for everyone". if you plan on seeing it, go on an empty stomach. it probably would have helped me stay awake and digest the movie a little better.

equilibrium. i loved this movie and would have gladly seen it at a theater. unfortunately, it was released around the time of the last matrix movie. i remember seeing the trailer for it, once, and the next thing i know it was out on DVD.
just got back from seeing 300, and i'm pretty sure i'll have to see it again. WOW. gerard butler as king leonidas--ahhhmazing! watching him was like watching mel gibson as william wallace in braveheart.
i'd write more but i have the worst headache, which started this afternoon and still hasn't gone away. but it didn't stop me from enjoying the movie, especially the battle scenes--boy do i love a good fight! i was the happiest girl in the theater.
i definitely want to see it again, without the headache.
robert downey jr as...IRON MAN?! i never would have imagined downey playing the role of a superhero. wow.
