i finally finished eragon last friday. at first i had mixed feelings when i read the first few chapters. felt like i was trying to crank up a lawn mower, pulling the cord over and over and hoping the engine would start. but that wasn't the only thing. i kept thinking to myself, "hey, some of this feels a lot like LOTR." the story finally took off when eragon’s dragon came into the picture. i loved how the two developed a bond by mentally speaking to each other. when their minds connected, i found myself finally connecting with the story. overall, the book was fun and i enjoyed it so much that i didn't want to put it down. now i’m really nervous about seeing the movie after i saw the online trailer. i’m hoping for the best...
can't wait to read eldest.
I always feel like I'm the last to know about
anything in the book world. I was watching a segment on CNN this
morning about "brain power". In a nutshell, Sanjay Gupta talked
about the connection between creativity and genius, then went on about
a boy in Montana who started writing a book before he graduated high
school--he didn't even have a drivers license by that time. I've
never heard of Christopher Paolin or his books but now I'm
curious. Has anyone read Eragon?
The movie snippets looked amazing (very LOTR and Chronicles of
Narnia) and is coming to the big screen in December. I'm thinking
I want to take a crack and read it before seeing the movie...
