i'd heard of the lyrebird but never heard it mimic sounds until i saw this video...
my lovelies are back...
while we were waiting for the march of dimes walkathon (march for babies) to get underway in downtown atlanta yesterday, i had a chance to take in the view of the buildings that were damaged by the tornado that hit last month. looks like efforts to repair the broken windows is slow going, but the buildings are fine and the area is open to traffic.
we started in centennial olympic park and walked 5.2 miles around the city. my legs are a little sore today (i really need to hit the pavement instead of the treadmill more often) but it felt great to do some good, and seeing so many people and their pets out for the cause was wonderful.
went to my first atlanta braves game last night.
sat next to the florida marlins bullpen.
i really dig a guy in uniform.
sat next to a mom who described a woman as "the mean lady" while talking to her son. not sure why that rubbed me the wrong way, but it did.
i think i did more eavesdropping and people watching instead of keeping up with the game.
i ate too much, but i don't feel so bad since i'll be walking my butt off for the march of dimes' march for babies tomorrow.
have a great weekend, everyone!
In honor of Earth Day, show us something (literally or figuratively) green.
Show us something that hurts.
my little pup in a cast when she was a little over two months old. i'm sure it was worse for her but it hurt to watch her hobble everywhere.
(in case you're wondering what happened, let me point ya to an older post)
caught a few shows this week. saw lichens and explosions in the sky last sunday. last night, boys like girls and avril lavigne. stood front stage and didn't have the life smashed out of me. hope i survive the vans warped tour in july.
today, i'm going to chill at home with getz/gilberto...
i want carrot cake. with a generous amount of cream cheese frosting.
that is all.
around this time last year, i complained about the pollen here in atlanta. today is no different. i actually held my breath on the way to my car from my apartment. yeah, like that was gonna help. my ears, eyes and throat still itch like crazy.
i love nature, but the trees here are KILLing me.
