transformers, 1-18-08
saw the transformers movie today...i LOVED it. yes, there were cheesy moments, but i'm a fan of cheese. actually, one of my favorite is camembert--hard on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. anyway, i was pretty excited about seeing the movie since i grew up watching the cartoon. i expected a lot of action and jaw-dropping visuals, and the movie exceeded my expectation. my only disappointment was when i walked up to my car and nothing happened when i said, "mini cooper, transform." oh well. the movie was amazing and entertaining!
on a different note, there was a mysterious trailer for a movie with no title, just a release date: 1-18-08. can't remember much but it showed a bunch of people partying (i'm assuming in NYC) and there's a blackout and a strange sound. they all come out of the building and we see a big fireball, then the head of the statue of liberty crash landing on the street. it's driving me nuts trying to figure out what it's about but the first thing i said to my brother was "another godzilla movie?" seriously, they're not going to make another one are they?

oh masa really wants to see this flick. i guess we should go. i used to be SUCH a moviehead but since we came here in october, i think we've seen ONE movie in the theater!
anyway, maybe it's not oscar-worthy (who cares, right), but if you liked it, at least it will be a decent bit of entertainment one afternoon, hm?
Hate to say it, but Transformers were past my time -- though I think I still might go just for the spectacle of it.
I've heard rumors that the mystery promo is a JJ Abrams (Alias -- LOST) project that involves the HP Lovecraft universe of Cthulu and The Old Ones.... and that could be about the coolest thing ever if done right.
transformers was fun. just... long. heh.
DUDE!! I loved loved loved loved LOVED Transformers!!
When I heard that Optimus Prime's voice was done by the original guy from the cartoon my heart did little flipflops of joy!
Yeah, easily the best movie I've seen in a very long time!
Also, I saw that mysterous trailer too.. Time to investigate!
it also did little flipflops of joy when i heard the "tranforming noise" on the big screen. that was awesome. totally worth the price of admission. heh.
Sorry, I've been away. Life has been a [insert colorful metaphor]. Did you miss me? Probably not. Forget you then!
Anyway, my best friend just called me and told that she just saw Transformers and loved it! I had to laugh because she was so excited about it. I've only heard 2 negative reviews, and neither were very substantive. Michael Bay did good on this one, I have to say. I enjoyed it immensely.
My only regret is that I didn't get to see it in a movie theater with a bunch of geeky fans like myself. I was in a theater with a bunch of "normies." Whatever. Other folks told that in their theaters, people applauded when Peter Cullen first spoke. I wanted that audience!
BTW, did you see StarScream take off into space after the credits began?
a good friend of mine called me today to ask what i thought about transformers and she laughed at how giddy i was from talking about ironhide, prime, bumblebee...oh, bumblebee...what a cutie! i loved the chemistry between him and shia. yeah, i was really into the movie and would have loved to have been with an audience that shared my excitement. the sad thing is that most of the people in the audience were soldiers and i thought for sure they would have geeked out. nope. i think i may have been the only one, and the only girl at that.
from the moment we saw and heard blackout transform for the first time, it was all over for me. it was like someone shoved an energon cube in my chest--i was pumped! especially when prime and the rest of the autobots showed up. oh, and i did see starscream fly off! i wasn't leaving until the end of the credits just to be on the safe side, but that's what we were left with. i am SO looking forward to part 2! *insert big ass cheesy grin*
