QotD: My First Gig
What was your very first job?

my family moved to fairbanks, alaska in 1989 and that winter my brother and i had our first jobs as couriers for the fairbanks daily news-miner.
we delivered newspapers in the neighborhood where we lived on fort
wainwright. my route was small, about 40 - 50 homes, and i only
delivered the sunday paper. i can still remember getting up at
5am, piling into my snowsuit and boots, trekking through temperatures
below 30F with snow up to my knees. it was the hardest job at
the time but i'm so glad i did it. it gave me an appreciation for
hard earned money...and we got to play in the snow and watch the
dancing lights. i miss those days...
