I know, this sucks. I told some people here at work and most people didn't even know who he was. How is that possible? I might have to pick up the DVDs for the kids.
Oh no! I loved Mr. Wizard too. I used to watch his show on Nickelodeon...back when it was all about You Can't Do That on Television and green slime and cool foreign cartoons like Belle and Sebastian and not just about en masse guerilla merchandising for the under-ten crowd.

I remember when he smashed apples he'd dipped in liquid nitrogen like they were glass ornaments. Cool. I wanted him to be my science teacher.
are you going to hate me when i tell you that i don't know who he is?

in my defense, though, my parents never let me watch tv. heh.
dude, i was on the phone with a friend who is a couple of years younger than me and she had no clue who mr. wizard was. it's not right i tell ya, not right at all.
nickelodeon was our live-in babysitter back in the day. i remember being glued to the shows and i'm with you jay, the foreign cartoons were the best! chapi chapo and alfie were my faves.

*sigh* i wish nick would bring some of the old shows back, especially mr. wizard's world.
woman, i'm not a hater. you know me better than that. *rolls eyes*

but i'm curious--when did you start watching tv?
What about bannana man and danger mouse.
[this is good]
I remember Mr.Wizard and the obscure shows that came on Nick in the early days (i.e., U Can't Do That on Television -- the only show that got away with calling someone Moo)...

and Danger Mouse & Banana Man??? OMG...I found the DM DVDs but Banana Man is nowhere to be found :( I LOVED those!
i'd love it if some of the classics like pinwheel or today's special were on DVD. i've looked and came up empty. i did hear that YCDTOT was going to be released on DVD last year but i haven't seen it anywhere.
I have now officially ranted on nickelodeon.
I would love to have Belle and Sebastian and The Mysterious Cities of Gold collections on DVD myself. Two of my early Nick favorites.
[this is good]
awww, i can't believe i forgot about Belle and Sebastian and The Mysterious Cities of Gold. i just looked on youtube to refresh my memory. =)

i don't understand why most of the nick classics aren't on DVD. from all the comments i've seen around the web, people want them. i want them!
Aww, that's too bad. I actually wanted to be one of the kids on Mr. Wizard's show back then.
