i've lost my mind

Comments

Yay, new camera! I've got 4 different books and the manual for mine and haven't gotten anywhere yet...
it took me forever to decided, but i finally went with the D80. so, i'll be joining you on the book front and commiserating over how stressed i am with my reading list. ;)

the class last night was a helpful refresher for general imaging but i was hoping we would talk about our cameras specifically. we were told that would a different class. i'm glad i went though. it's easier to talk to an instructor--the manual doesn't give me answers i can understand. LOL

I know, it was a tough decision to make, but I do like the hand-feel of the D80 and no regrets so far. Sometimes I still glance at it and sigh contentedly. (Did I really just admit that? Oh well :)

Now I've started lusting after new lenses...even though I haven't read enough to know what lenses I really need!

OMG, I just saw the Beowulf preview. And I quote, "I. . . AM. . . BEOWULF!"
a la 300.

i was looking at the canon XTi and the 40D but i liked the way the D80 felt. i have to admit, there are times i get frustrated with the image quality. but that's because i haven't futzed with the settings enough. i concerned that i'm too attached to the quality of my compact, too. =\

one thing i miss is the live view. i haven't gotten used to my face pressed up against the new camera, and having to use one eye! and i'm compulsive about cleaning the display now, which drives me nuts. damn oily skin!

as for lenses, i'm with you--i don't know enough to figure out what i need so i'll be sticking with the 18-55mm for a while. btw, are you lusting over the 18-200mm? the instructor from last night's class said that it's a great lens...

"OMG, I just saw the Beowulf preview."

ew. the preview grosses me out. it just doesn't look good, at all. but knowing me, i'll probably check it out anyway.

Yup, I'm there with you on everything. I know it'll get better once I know the settings, but...I haven't yet. Ditto on using the viewfinder, and getting the display schmutzy. I don't know about you, but I left the plastic cover thingy on the display so at least I wasn't touching it directly.

The one I was looking at on Friday was the 70-300mm, but the 18-200mm looks nice too... But it'll be a little while before I can buy either.

"I left the plastic cover thingy on the display..."

at first i was going to take it off but i am SO glad i didn't. now, if only i could keep the rest of the camera clean. do you have a UV filter for your lens? i feel like mine is a dust magnet more than anything.

and off i go to check out your future lens. ;)
hrm... uhm... good luck?

hehe... sorry. i know NOTHING about photography. this whole post was like gobbledy gook to me. hehe :P

:D

"gobbledy gook"

is that some sort of korean soup i don't know about? i bet it's not as good as mee-yuk gook or deng-jang gook. ;)
LOL... that totally cracked me up. hehe.
I just put the UV filter on yesterday. But there's always cat hair on everything here...
Crap. I went out today and realized I need one of those lenses. Couldn't get anywhere near as close as I wanted with some birds today with the kit lens. Guess I should start looking into selling plasma or eggs or something...
saw your pelican photos and i loved them! a nice zoom lens would have made it easier to get some of the shots but they're so friggin expensive. seriously, i've been thinking about selling a few things, too. ;-)
