free comic book day
saturday was free comic book day. i woke up with every intention of going to the local comic book store, not only for the free books but to also pick up a couple of graphic novels, y: the last man (mcco12 piqued my interest last year) and watchmen. i thought my dad was going to say something about going but when 11:30 rolled around and he hadn't mentioned anything, i brought it up. my mom, who is not a fan of comics, decided to tag along and we all wound up going to the columbus book exchange around noon. after spending a little over 50 bucks, we walked away with these free titles:
jack the lantern
liberty comics
buzzboy/roboy: the buzz & the bot
justice league of america
transformers movie prequel
battlestar galactica season zero
the astounding wolfman
the amazing spider-man
owly: helping hands
mickey mouse
legion of super-heroes in the 31st century
sonic the hedgehog
omg, i just realized i forgot to watch last week's episode of heroes. it was the night before my mom's shoulder surgery so it totally slipped my mind. geez, if it weren't for the jack the lantern cover looking like a sylar painting of the deveaux building, i probably would have forgotten about tonight's episode, too.

On the upside the EvilWombatKing now has a new job so once the bills are paid off I can afford to buy heaps of comics. Huzzah!
That's awesome! I didn't know there was an event like Comic Book Day. Is that a worldwide thing, or is it just in your area?
It sounds like you picked up some good finds. =D
Don't worry about Heroes. Chances are, you can find the missed episode online. SciFi also always replays episodes, even the newer ones. I'm sure another marathon is coming up, too. Don't miss the new one tonight though!
whatevah. i'm gonna get mine directly from andy runton at comic-con. so there. *pouts* :P
lauren, there's a store locater on the freecomicbookday.com, maybe there is one in your area?
jukebox hero, i don't follow comics like i used to but this year i'd like to get back into it.
reesie, i was old school, too. my dad started collecting comics when he joined the army (17 or 18 y/o, i think) and then when he went into business in the mid 80s up until the 90s, i read (and i mean "looked") at a lot of comic books back then. x-men was my favorite title. i vaguely remember reading sandman but it's on my list of, "hey dad, can i dig through your stash to read..." i'm sure he's going to say no. LOL.
vivren, fables? i've heard of the game but not the book. i'll check, though. =)
