I always feel like I'm the last to know about anything in the book world. I was watching a segment on CNN this morning about "brain power". In a nutshell, Sanjay Gupta talked about the connection between creativity and genius, then went on about a boy in Montana who started writing a book before he graduated high school--he didn't even have a drivers license by that time. I've never heard of Christopher Paolin or his books but now I'm curious. Has anyone read Eragon? The movie snippets looked amazing (very LOTR and Chronicles of Narnia) and is coming to the big screen in December. I'm thinking I want to take a crack and read it before seeing the movie...

Omg you are WAY behind the times girl! What's so amazing about Eragon is that the kid wrote it when he was 15 but it's in a very high-fantasy style along the lines of Tolkien, very hard to achieve for most writers, much less at that age.

I have it as a book on tape on my iPod but never had the chance to finish. I figured it was too interesting for audio--I wanted to get the book and just haven't done it yet.

lol, guess i'll be adding that to my "read before the movie comes out" list. i really need to get my head into more books and magazines that aren't design or science related. i grew up reading nothing but robert r. mccammon, stephen king and v.c. andrews for fun. hmmm, the last book i read for *fun* was the da vinci code. before that, harry potter. i'm still on book two. talk about being behind!

btw, sanjay's has a special segment on cnn this sunday to talk about genius. i believe we'll learn more about christopher paolin. it was interesting to hear the kid talk about how montana and the natural landscape helped him with his writings. i just realized i almost went to college in montana but was afraid of the isolation. ha! you'd think i would have been fine with it considering my family lived in fairbanks, alaska for 3 years.

@longestflight: i really liked the poster too and i wish they would post the movie trailer already. from what i saw this morning...i can't wait! but i have to read the book first.
