In your photos, your nails are always nicely polished :) What's your brand of choice? Nail polish, that is.

And the cone looks good too.
thanks, georgia! i feel like i'm going to ramble on about my nail polish collection and i don't know why i didn't think to write a post about it since i love to paint my nails.

as for my brand of choice? oh, there are many. i like to try different ones because some colors catch my eye more than other brands. i mostly have revlon, sonia kashuk, and finger paints in my manicure caboodle. i did find an amazing red nail polish color by cover girl called really red, but the one i'm wearing in this photo is l.o.v.e. by sonia kashuk. i also use opi though i just got rid of most of them since they were clumping. i love nailene and orly for french manicures but i rarely paint the white tips on my nails since i keep them on the short side.

i know you're a busy momma, but do you polish your nails? :)
I've come to really appreciate accessories; I love pretty earrings with nice shoes, usually flats, and a nice handbag. I don't mean expensive, just thought-out. A polished nail is like that. But I usually have enough time to get them painted, and someone asks something of me before they dry. Then I redo the one or two that got messed up. Although I have just wiped them all off for lack of time to get it right and properly dry. You seem to use more orangey tones? That's what I've noticed in your photos. It goes well with your skin tone.

I don't believe any colors are off limits though, same for clothes, some colors just suit people better. I'm not really a red girl, but I swing between pinks and oranges mostly.

I found a drug store brand "wet shine" that I haven't seen in a while. My sister swears by the cheapest brands. She's convinced they stay on longer.

Two questions: Do you do the base or top coat? And where do you get the sonia, opi, and finger paints? (What do you mean by finger paints?)
i LOVE red and orange, and i like mixing them with brown, green and blue colors. now that the weather is warmer, i wear a lot of white though.

okay, back to nail polish. :) i always use a base coat and it's usually sonia kashuk's "base & top coat". sometimes i'll do a top coat after my color (1-2 coats) but i wait a few days after the color dries.

sonia is exclusive to target, i think, and i've only seen her line there. the opi line i don't buy as much because, well, the pricing is ridiculously high these days. i won't pay $7 for opi and usually buy them when they're on sale. the same goes for revlon. i'll buy opi at trade secret, but my mom gets them from a store that i'm not familiar with for half the price of most salons. btw, i've noticed that opi's polish doesn't last long on my nails and i agree with your sister--the cheaper brands do stay on longer!

i used to wear "wet 'n wild" but i found the "finger paints" brand at sally's beauty supply store for less than $3 (sometimes two for the price of one) and the polish lasts a while with a base coat. on average, i'd say the polish stays on for a little over a week before it starts chipping, unless i pick at them. it's a habit i have when i'm nervous or stressing about something.

i'd say my two favorite places to shop for nail polish are target and sally's. :)

do you find that "wet shine" holds up pretty well? and which drug store did you find it at?
I think it was a Walgreens? Yes the wet shine held up well. But now I'm wondering if I was confusing it with wet 'n' wild.

I went for new nail polish today at Target. I didn't see the sonia kashuk, but I had little ones with me and couldn't stay long. I got two by Rimmel London and a New York Color (N.Y.C.). I'd like to do a french manicure next. I've actually never had one of those :)
I was at the gym watching food network (you laugh, but I don't have cable at home!) and I saw how these are made on that show with that guy from Double Dare. My mom LOVES them. I remember eating them at lot as a kid since they were always around since my mom adore them. Of course, ice cream treats don't last very long if my mom is around...
:)

P.S. I used to be OBSESSED with painting my nails! Now I just use nail polish to seal my coverslips onto my tissue samples.
Georgia, will you do the french manicure yourself? BTW, how do you like Rimmel and N.Y.C?
LOL, I don't blame you for watching at the gym--helps the time go by faster!

Don't you just love all the thing you can do with nail polish?! I actually use my clear coat to seal jewelry, and of course stop the runs in my stockings. Well, I don't wear stocking now since it's too hot!
What do you mean by "seal jewelry"?

The Rimmel and N.Y.C. have worked well, especially considering what little I paid for them. I even forgot gloves a few times when I washed the dishes. If I'd been faithful with the gloves, it might've lasted 5 days? And keep in mind, my job is very hands on.
oh, sealing jewelry--in the past, i would have a reaction to jewelry if it isn't gold or silver plated so i'd put a coat of clear nail polish on them. but now when i buy jewelry, i try to make sure it's at least gold or silver plated to avoid the hassle. =)
